LUGANO, CH — November 3, 2026 — –REDPRESSWIRE– Partners For Patients NGO (PFP.NGO) and the Pan-African Parliament of the African Union (PAP of the AU) will host a breakfast fundraiser for children with cancer in Africa on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel. The event aims to raise funds to support PFP.NGO’s mission of improving access to timely diagnoses and treatment for children with cancer across Africa.

Tickets for the breakfast fundraiser are priced at USD 198 per person, with all net proceeds directed to support the work of PFP.NGO. The event will be hosted by Mimi L. Choon-Quinones, Founder and Board Chairwoman of PFP.NGO, who also serves as Ambassador and Senior Advisor on Public Health and Global Health to the PAP of the AU and its Permanent Committee on Health.
According to estimates published in The Lancet Oncology, approximately 146,000 children in Africa develop cancer each year. In West Africa, more than half of these children are never diagnosed. Over the next ten years, more than 1.4 million African children are expected to develop cancer. Survival rates for children diagnosed with cancer in sub-Saharan Africa are about two in ten, compared to eight in ten in high-income countries. By 2050, Africa is projected to account for nearly half of the world’s childhood cancer cases.
The Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel has become the New York partner hotel of PFP.NGO and the PAP of the AU for the next ten years, from 2026 to 2036. The hotel previously hosted HEAL @ UNGA in September 2025 and September 2026, events attended by His Excellency Fortune Charumbira, then President of the PAP of the AU, and President Fateh Boutbig of the PAP of the AU. As part of this partnership, the hotel will continue to host HEAL @ UNGA each September, as well as the joint Commonwealth Prayer Breakfast and Pan-African Prayer Breakfast held before the United Nations General Assembly.
PFP.NGO and the PAP of the AU have invited New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to serve as keynote speaker at these events, alongside President Boutbig as co-keynote speaker. The discussions are expected to focus on prioritizing health in Africa and among people of African ancestry worldwide.
“The Renaissance team has given us a fantastic property, exceptional service and a wonderful experience every time,” said Mimi L. Choon-Quinones. “Here in Times Square, we will raise funds to help ensure that more children in Africa receive timely diagnoses and effective treatment. I invite everyone who cares about children’s health to join us at the table.”
The breakfast fundraiser will take place at the Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel, located at 714 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY 10036. Tickets are available for USD 198 per person. Registration can be completed through the event registration page. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. PFP.NGO is a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 85-3710621).
